Places to stay

I wanted ASAP to put up places to stay in the Berkshires near our wedding that we think are nice. I have focused on country inns, as our wedding is a coun'ry affair and hopefully most people will like the more rustic country lodging. But I also include a Comfort Inn, which is a more affordable and for some, practical option. All of the inns are operated by people we know and are places we would stay ourselves:

The Egremont Inn, South Egremont, MA.

This is about 2 1/2 miles from the wedding. It is a charming 18th century inn in the center of South Egremont with a good restaurant and nice people. We have already reserved about 6 guest rooms here, so call up and say you are with the Siegel/Dreger wedding on August 1.

The Inn at Sweet Water Farm, North Egremont, MA.

This is the only inn that is walking distance to our wedding, about half a mile away (and half that is my parents' driveway). It is run by a really friendly lady, friend of a friend, Linda. A cute, B&B type place, in a nice old house in the center of the thriving metropolis of North Egremont.

Old Inn on the Green, New Marlborough, MA.

A really gorgeous old inn with a fantastic restaurant--one of the best in the county-- and very friendly people. The setting is a perfectly preserved 18th-century New England town. Owned by chef Peter Platt and his really lovely wife Meredith. Beautiful place, not cheap. About 20-25 minutes from the wedding.

The Williamsville Inn, West Stockbridge, MA.

Another charming old inn, though very recently renovated, with another terrific restaurant, German this time. The very friendly chef/owner Erhard offers culinary classes (though perhaps not on command). Walking distance from my sister, Sheela Clary, should you know her and her adorable kids. You should. About 15 minutes' drive from wedding.

You know the species. Comfortable, all the amenities, very close to town. About 5 1/2 miles from the wedding.
